सरकारी आँकड़ों में आठ करोड़ परन्तु धरातल पर पंद्रह करोड़ से उपर के लोगों द्वारा बोली जाने वाली,पाँच देशों की प्रमुख मातृभाषा,विश्वविद्यालीय शिक्षा में पढ़ाई जाने वाली तथा सिनेमा उद्योग में पॉलीवुड के नाम से प्रसिद्ध भोजपुरी के समक्ष आज अपने अस्तित्व का संकट आन खड़ा हुआ है।

भिन्न-भिन्न प्रकार की साहित्यिक पत्र-पत्रिकाओं से समृद्ध, राजनीतिज्ञों के संबोधन की आधार भाषा वर्त्तमान मे आज संकट में है। ब्रिटिश काल में गुलाम बना कर ले जाये गये भोजपुरी प्रदेश के मजदूर भले ही आज मॉरीशस, सुरीनाम, फीजी, ब्रिटिश गुयाना, केप टाऊन जैसे देशों के प्रथम राजनयिक बन गये हों, भारतीय राजनीतिक परिदृश्य में इसका कोई महत्त्व नहीं है। यहां भोजपुरी मात्र दोहन की भाषा बन कर रह गई है।

“हम परनाम करतानीं, का हाल बा रऊआ सभे के, जीवटता से भरल एह धरती के हम नमन करतानीं”-जैसे जुमलों से अपनी भाषण की शुरुआत करने वाले भारत के वर्त्तमान प्रधानमंत्री के पास भी इस का उत्तर नहीं है कि भोजपुरी को आखिर कब मान्यता मिलेगी, वह संविधान की आठवीं सूची में कब सम्मिलित होगी, वह कब यू पी एस सी के विद्यार्थियों के लिए स्वीकृत क्षेत्रीय भाषा कही जायेगी? दिल्ली प्रदेश के भाजपा के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष मनोज तिवारी, जिन्होंनें भोजपुरी ही के माध्यम से अपनी पहचान बनाई, पूर्वांचल क्षेत्रों से जाकर दिल्ली, एन सी आर में मजदूरी कर रहे मजदूरों की भावनाओं का राजनीतिक दोहन किया, वे भी अब कछुआ की भाँति मुँह भीतर घुसाए चुप्पी साधे हुए हैं।

भारतीय स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन में चंपारण जैसे क्षेत्र से महात्मा जैसी उपाधि से सम्मानित गाँधी ने भी आजादी की लड़ाई में इस भाषा को अपना आधार बनाकर भोजपुरिया जनमानस को नेतृत्व दिया था। तब छपरा के रघुबीर नारायण द्वारा लिखे गये भोजपुरिया राष्ट्र गीत-“सुंदर सुभूमि भैया भारत के देसवा कि मोर प्रान बसे हिम खोह रे बटोहिया”-से महात्मा गाँधी के हर भाषणों की शुरुआत होती थी। हर वैसे स्थानीय नागरिकों की, जो अशिक्षित थे, उन्हें यह गीत जोश से भरता था और वे दुगुनी जोश-उल्लास के साथ बापू के लिए कुछ भी कर जाने को आतूर हो जाते थे। आजादी मिली और भोजपुरिया क्षेत्र के प्रथम राष्ट्रपति-राजेंद्र प्रसाद जी-के आवास तक भोजपुरी ने अपनी पैठ बनाई। भारत भाँति-भाँति के सांस्कृतिक भिन्नताओं का देश रहा है,जिस में भाषाओं की भी भूमिका की महत्ता को स्वीकारते हुए स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति के बाद कुछ भाषाओं को संविधान की आठवीं अनुसूची में शामिल किया गया पर भोजपुरी हासिए पर ढ़केल दी गई।

आजादी प्राप्ति के सत्तर वर्ष होने को आए पर चौआलिस सांसदों के क्षेत्र की यह भाषा अपने दुर्भाग्य पर सिसकती ही रही है। बिहार,उत्तर प्रदेश के पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र, झारखंड का पश्चिमी हिस्सा, मध्यप्रदेश और छत्तीसगढ़ जैसे प्रदेशों में बोली जाने वाली यह भाषा राजनीतिज्ञों की उदासीनता की शिकार बनी। ऐसा नहीं कि संसद में इस हेतु प्रयत्न नहीं हुए पर कहानी ढ़ाक के तीन पात की तरह ही रही। आयोग बना, उस की खोजी रिपोर्ट ने इस के पक्ष में तथ्य दिए पर हर चुनाव में यह एक भावनात्मक मुद्दा बन कर रह गई।चंद्रशेखर (भूतपूर्व प्रधानमंत्री) ने इसे हिंदी के लिए संकट माना तो अतिरिक्त सरकारों के शीर्ष के राजनयिकों ने चुनावी हथकंडा। संसद में यदाकदा इस पर चर्चाएं होती रहीं और हमेशा यही कहा गया कि भोजपुरी को मान्यता दी जायेगी पर हाय री भोजपुरी की बदनसीबी-जंतर मंतर (दिल्ली) पर कई वर्षों से भोजपुरी हेतु आमजनों द्वारा दिये जा रहे धरने-प्रदर्शन, सैकड़ों स्वयंसेवी संस्थाओं की प्रार्थना नक्कारखाने में तूती की आवाज बन धूमिल पड़ गई।

भारत का चुनाव आयोग भी भिन्न भिन्न प्रदेशों में भाषाई आधार पर अपनी पहचान बना कर राष्ट्रीय मुकाम हासिल करने वाले कलाकारों को अपना ब्रांड एम्बेसडर नियुक्त करती है, जो स्थानीय मतदाताओं को उनकी मातृभाषा में मत-जागरूकता हेतु जागृत करते हैं पर ऐसी भाषाओं को संविधान की आठवीं अनुसूची में शामिल करते समय साँप सूँघ जाता है। ऐसे न जाने कितने दोहन कार्य भोजपुरी जैसी भाषा के संग भी हुआ है परंतु कहानी अभी वही अँटकी है।

फिर चुनाव आहूत है और भोजपुरी की मान्यता को लेकर बौद्धिक मतदाताओं के समक्ष ज्वलंत प्रश्न खड़ा है-क्या होगा भोजपुरी का? क्या विश्वविद्यालयों से भोजपुरी में पाये गई स्नातकोत्तर के प्रमाणपत्र मूल्यहीन ही रहेंगें? भारत की इन्द्रधनुषी सांस्कृतिक महत्त्व के एक तत्त्व भाषा के रुप में स्थापित लोक भाषाओं की शीर्ष भोजपुरी यूँ ही निरीह बनी रहेगी? याद रहे-राष्ट्रवाद हो या राष्ट्रभक्ति, स्थापित लोकभाषाओं का सहयोग पाकर ही वो परवान चढ़ेगी।
